eLab

One week in Munich. Two weeks abroad. Expand your horizons.

The Entrepreneurship Laboratory is the final CDTM core course. One intensive week in Munich, project weeks alongside the semester, and a two-week intercontinental trip to another ecosystem, with new impulses to learn from.

It gives you the space, somewhere in between, to work out what you actually want to do next. Every student sets one BHAG (big hairy audacious goal).

What eLab is.

  • Two tracks, run in parallel

Every student runs both tracks at the same time: one with your group, one on your own. Together they are the final deliverable of the course.

  • A week of speakers in Munich

Deep tech, AI, VC financing, bootstrapping, leading change, finding your purpose: an interdisciplinary range of topics, in person.

  • Two weeks in another ecosystem

Meeting the people who built it and learning how they got there. Founders, investors, policymakers and operators you meet in person, for whatever you build next.

  • A big ambitious goal of your choice

You set yourself one big, ambitious goal in the Munich week, something that brings you closer to where you want to go after CDTM. Then you spend the weeks until the trip chasing it, with a coach or mentor in your corner and the whole class to present it to.

The most asked questions

When do I take eLab?
eLab is the third and last core course, worth 9 ECTS, usually in your second semester at CDTM, or optionally later, from the third up to the sixth semester. At least one Taskforce semester has to be done before it.
How much time does it take?
Three blocks. One intensive week in Munich. 15 project weeks in between, part-time alongside your semester. And two weeks abroad, both mandatory.
Where does the trip go?
To another ecosystem on a different continent, with a full program from the first day. The destination is announced during the Munich week.
What does the trip cost?
CDTM looks for sponsoring for the trip, and money should not be what keeps anyone from taking the course. If cost is a worry, the team works it out with you early.
Do I need a startup idea?
No. eLab is about the entrepreneurial mindset, whatever you do next: founding a company, joining one, or something else entirely. Your own track is a project you choose, a big ambitious goal that brings you closer to where you want to go.
